Naftali Bennett
A New Sheriff in Town (For Now)
Caretaker Prime Minister Yair Lapid officially took over his post from PM Naftali Bennett over the weekend. In his first cabinet meeting Lapid said his goal was “to manage the government as if there are no elections,” referring to Israel’s upcoming November 1, Knesset elections. Will it be possible for the new PM to achieve this goal and effectively run the country, or will he be too busy making sure that his Yesh Atid faction does well when Israel goes to the polls after the high holidays? Josh Hasten discusses this story along with all the other headlines from Israel on this week’s “Israel Uncensored,” podcast.

PM Naftali Bennett Heads to the UAE
As global tensions with Iran are close to a breaking point, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett yesterday headed to the UAE for meetings with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ). Will Israel have the support of the UAE and other Gulf States if it acts unilaterally against Iran? Is Bennett concerned that Iran and the UAE held high level meetings in recent days to perhaps discuss the warming of ties? This story plus all the latest news from Israel, on this week’s Israel Uncensored with Josh Hasten.

New Government Criticized for Approving Lackluster Building Projects in Judea and Samaria
At the end of June, the new Israeli government led by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett approved 31 new building projects throughout Judea and Samaria. The projects were green-lighted by the subcommittee on Jewish “settlements” within the Civil Administration.
Yamina and Likud Weigh in on Government Coalition
On today’s special edition of Israel Uncensored with Josh Hasten, interviews with Jeremy Saltan, English Operations Director for the Yamina Party and Danny Seaman, Political Analyst and long-time Likud supporter. Saltan says that the upcoming wide-ranging government coalition headed by Naftali Bennett will be even more right-wing than governments led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Seaman argues that it is inconceivable that Bennett is slated to be Israel’s next prime minister as his party only secured seven seats in this past election. Listen to both interviews to get a true understanding of what Yamina and Likud representatives/supporters are saying respectively, as Israel inches closer to a new government.

Prime Minister Bennett?
Last night, Yamina party head Naftali Bennett announced that he will be forming a governing coalition with Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid and other anti-Netanyahu parties in order to unseat the Prime Minister. Unless something dramatic happens over the next few days, it looks like Bennett will become Israel’s PM for the next two years, followed by Lapid for the following two. The move angered many right-winger voters who accused Bennett of breaking an election promise that he would not serve under Lapid. Does Prime Minister Netanyahu have any more rabbits under his hat or is this the end of his current 12 year run (15 years in total) as Israel’s PM?

Israel Enters Third Lockdown as Elections Loom
Israel on Sunday entered a third national lockdown with coronavirus cases spiking. Will this be the final lockdown at hundreds of thousands of Israelis have already received their inoculations? Prime Minister Netanyahu hopes that at least 2 million Israelis will receive their shots by the end of January. Plus, Israel is headed towards its fourth election in the past two years. Will Netanyhau hold on as the country’s leader, or will a coalition be formed led by either former Likud member Gideon Sa’ar and his “New Hope” party or Naftali Bennett’s Yamina? All of this plus the other latest news from Israel, on this week’s Israel Uncensored, with Josh Hasten.
Israel Back to the Polls for a Third Time in a Year
On today’s special election edition of Israel Uncensored with Josh Hasten, Josh interviews the “man (and woman) in the street” outside a Gush Etzion polling station, as Israel votes for the 23rd Knesset – the country’s third election within a year. While most voters interviewed in this non-scientific poll said they would vote for Yemina led by Naftali Bennett, others said they would be choosing PM Netanyahu’s Likud. Other voters were undecided going into the polling station. Listen to today’s show to get a sense of the logic used by some Israelis as they cast their ballots.
Israelis Debate Whether They Have Already Won the Middle East Conflict
For the past three years, the Israel Victory Project movement has been active in trying “to facilitate a change in the public discourse towards an Israeli victory that aims to encourage Palestinian leadership and society that their best chance at prosperity will come once they accept that Israel is the Jewish state.”
What Would an Israeli Victory Look Like?
On today’s Israel Uncensored with Josh Hasten, Josh shares some interviews from Sunday’s Israel Victory Project conference held in Ramat Gan including comments from Naftali Bennett. The conference brought together politicians, academics, journalists, military experts and others to discuss their views on how Israel should go about achieving a victory over her enemies, from Hamas in the south to Hezbollah in the north, and all others who seek Israel’s demise and refuse to accept the existence of a Jewish State.
